Ogham is the earliest form of written language found in Ireland, dating back to the 4th Century AD. It consists of a series of horizontal and diagonal strokes typically carved onto the edge of a standing stone. Ogham stones were markers used to commemorate a person, their burial place or the boundary of their territory, and many of them can still be found around Ireland. Ogham is read from the bottom upwards. For more information on Ogham Stones, click here.
These Ogham Stones are hand-printed lino cuts on high quality watercolour paper, conveying traditional Irish (Gaelic) greetings, wishes or blessings in Ogham. All Ogham lettering is in gold. Two-, Three- or Five-panel combinations can be ordered with the greetings of your choice. Individual names written in Ogham can be requested, and the Two-panel frame containing two names makes a beautiful wedding or engagement gift.
